2009 CVO Springer with 3 security chirps
« on: December 30, 2013, 06:34:45 AM »

Hi All,

I have a friend with a 2009 CVO springer and his bike chirps 3 times in quick succession when arming. It drives him spare so I tried to switch it off with the on, off, on, off, on method to no avail.
I have a 2008 softail custom and a 2007 CVO Ultra FLHTCUSE2 and the stock method works fine on both of my rides.

Can anyone here tell me what I am doing wrong or if there is a different method for the 2009 springer?
Is this bike setup differently, ie 3 chirps instead of the usual 2 chirps.

Thanks all,
Bluey

I don't have an answer for you. My '09 CUSE chirps 2 times. I turned it off and shortly turned it back on. I like knowing the alarm is set. Unless you are close enough to hear the rely or watch for the turns????? The chirp also lets anyone in the area know.....touch me and I'm going to cry!!!

On the older models "Siren will chirp three times when siren battery is low" Hope this helps. Larry

:2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:     The normal operating mode is two chirps, and as Larry has posted above, three chirps is a warning.  Tell your friend to check out the siren; it may just be a battery in need of changing, or there may be something else causing the battery to not charge.

The sirens use a 9 volt NiMH rechargeable battery.  Harley sells a kit for about $15; or you can just buy the battery anywhere they sell such batteries.  The instructions for that kit are attached below as a pdf file.

A big thanks Guys, I'm sure he is going to be happy to hear this. :orange: :mango: :huepfenjump3: :bananarock:
Does it mean you cannot turn off the 3 chirp low battery warning?
I don't believe it chirps when it disarms, so i think you are on the money.
Thanks again I will pass it on.
