he length (milage wise) of that tow was considerably farther than getting towed to the H.D. dealership.  Maybe it's a matter of just what tow outfit you use,  or maybe you'all are telling me it "aint what it used to be".............I do have AAA coverage if that is better. nixweiss
Could be. I was 66 miles from a small city and HOG told me 35 Miles max tow. Their towing company (HOG ) wanted several hundred dollars  to get me. AAA Premier w/RV is the ticket.   Cover our cars and both bikes. My wife rides her own.

In my last case of HOG towing use, they wanted to tow me to the nearest HD Dealership (which was backtracking on my route and, more importantly, I knew was closed on this particular day).  I asked to be towed to another dealership which was a few miles further, but I knew was open and in my direction of travel.  They said no way, unless I paid additional, which I opted to do.  I am no longer a member of HOG and subscriber of the AAA premium w/RV.  spyder

HOG towing program will reimburse you for a tow if you opt not to use their contractor.

The last time I called they wanted me to wait three hours for the truck... I told them I could push the bike there in three hours!  :huepfenlol2:

I have a life membership with HOG so it cost me nothing now... I've had three bikes towed and no issues with either the service (except for the wait) or the reimbursement program.

As far as the who/what/when people have issues with... dont call HOG, just ask the tow contractor if they will adjust the location. Most will.

Now.. for you travelling and want an alternative source for your electronic devices, etc. I just bought one of these:

Came in handy this weekend... one bike's charging system went down...got him started and ran the bike on the battery pack to get it to the shop.

I can only pile on. I had a 2008 Fat Bob and traded for my CVO July 2013, original factory battery. Always on tender in the winter. As others stated they usually go with no warning, very typical. My neighbor's went last fall just like that, in the driveway luckily. SO you want to jump a battery that may be internally shorted with a 750 Cranking amp car battery? Or with a shorted starter? You may get away with it or if you fry the wiring or the Brains, a tow will be a bargain. I like to buy a new bike when my battery gets to be 5 years old - At least that is what I tell the wife. :2vrolijk_21:
