2012 Road Glide CVO Air Ride w Electric Center Stand
« on: January 17, 2014, 09:53:39 AM »

Hello, Sharks

2012 Road Glide Custom CVO, Rinehart True Dual Exhaust.

I completed my install on the Legends Air Ride and a Electric Center stand.
The Air Ride Pump is located inside the frame, in front of battery and behind the motor, the center stand is located on the lower frame rails.

My problem is the legs of the stand hits the exhaust cross over.

Has anyone out there resolved this problem?

I'm not aware of any of the electric stands that will clear a cross over pipe.

I suppose you could take the approach Harley did on the stock crossover and flatten the pipe for clearance, but that's not exactly a great solution.  Does the stand have an adjustable stop to keep it from rubbing on the pipe?  If not you may need to fabricate a stop to mount to the frame or trans oil pan to keep the stand from contacting the pipe.  Just throwing out thoughts here, I'm not familiar with the stand you have.

I made purchase from Independent Cycles East. I requested and noted the invoice referenced my application of 2012 Road Glide Custom CVO. I call the manufactor and I expected a call back. I think the main problem is most bikes I seen in magazines have two into one with the dummy. The mounting plate bolts up to the frame rails, however the length of the legs are too long for the current mounting position. I hoping I can get a adjustment on the mounting plate that will move the legs forward a bit. Thanks for the input.

You got my curiosity aroused, since I'd never heard of this kind of center stand before, so I did a little searching.  If the stand you bought is the Risley unit (see attachment, click on it for full size), they do say up front that it won't work with a cross under exhaust system.  Anyhow, you could call Matt Risley at the number on the attachment and ask if it's possible to make it work with what you have.  :nixweiss:

Ordered DND 2 -1, will make a slight adjustment to ghost pipe to ensure stand retracts up to the frame.

Thanks to all for the input

Unrelated to your stand question but how do you like the legend air ride? Debating on going to air.
