When I open my tour pack, I push the button with my right thumb and lift the lid by the Rack, Close it the same way, Lower it while holdinng the rack.

I haven't noticed any problems with my tour pak, but it's early yet.  However, rather than use the Harley goop they gave me, I am sold on everything made called Glare, and so used their leather/vinyl/plastic conditioner on mine the other day when detailing her for this upcoming weekend trip.  The stuff goes on easy, doesn't make the leather have an unnatural "shine" to it.  Here's the product blurb:

GLARE Vinyl · Leather All Weather Protectant

A special blend of natural ingredients and a chemical formulation called SUPPLEXIN which is designed to beautify, soften, deodorize, preserve, and protect against damaging agents found in the everyday usage of your vehicle's interior. This product cleans, conditions, preserves, and protects in one easy step. Contains no harmful silicons, or adverse active ingredients. Blocks harmful UV rays. The finest and most technologically advanced interior product ever unleashed on the car care market, and thus worthy of the Glare Name. Smells great. [12 oz.]

The UV protection is the main thing I'm interested in, as that is what will fade the leather over time, regardless of the treatment substance.  This company's Polish is the best stuff I've ever used, and I've got over 20 bottles of chit on my shelf that I've tried over the years.  Will protect against brake fluid spills, gas, acid rain, bug guts, UV.  I've talked about the stuff before on here, but not the leather stuff.  Here's a link to their site...

Thanks for all the responses...as usual, I got to the dealer and parked the bike in the shade and when we went out to look at it it was exactly like it should be. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] I moved it into the sun and about ten minutes later you could see the ripples. He said he did not think that HD would warranty the issue because it is jus t the way it is...I think I would have rather had a King tour Pack with the nice paint and a little more room.
They also refused to exchange my seat. They said the holes in the "ostrich" portion are jsut part of the character of the seat. I guess the same way a hole in the bottom of your boat is just character. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

The moco has a book for dealers with excrutiating detail as to what is acceptable or not as regards fit and finish.  I would ask him to show you in writing where the holes in the seat are acceptable.  And / or I would call moco customer service.  Whenever I deal with any of them I just try to remember my old grandma's saying that "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."

The holes are so the water can drain.  Of course, later it can come back out and cool yer arse while it's hot!  Then you can get a little electrical stimualtion when you use the heater.  Ain't the moco great, they try to improve our riding experiences every season!!   All you need are FR8TRN's shorted heated grips, you could turn on the grips, the heated seat, grap a handful of clutch and have spontaneous combustion right on the spot!!![smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] ::) :P

The "ostrich" leather on my tour pack is puffing up and pulling away from the hard surface under it. Anyone else had this problem.
Rick

Mine was like that when it arrived!

I put one of them scratches in mine the first day.  After a few applications of goop you can barely see it.  Its what Harley calls "the natural character of the leather"  Yeah, right.  Anyway I always pull it open by the rack on top.  No more scratches.  Momma was warned, watch them finger spikes! :-*

Bros: I believe the leather Tour Pak Bubbling Problem has arisen due to the fact that they used horse glue on the Ostrich Leather and this caused a chemical reaction that is allowing it to come un-glued...just like how we come un-glued when we question why the MoCo and the dealers still have their heads in the sand just like the Ostrich we are questioning?  ;D

Mine's doing it some too...I don't think there's any way for it not to do it, to some extent...just the nature of the beast(s)...the material is going to expand and contract with temp/humidity...it's unavoidable.
