Nascar collectibles
« on: April 07, 2014, 12:21:41 PM »

I have some (a lot actually) Dale Earnhardt collectibles that I would like to sell off. Does anyone know of a collector that might be interested in purchasing the entire collection?

Some of this stuff dates back to 1990.

Thanks for the help!

Only wish that collectibles stayed collectibles. For about the first 5 years after his death in 2001, DE Sr's memorabilia surged. Now I would say its flat lined. Not saying your stuff is worthless, there are still collectors around. I have every 1/24 he ever drove, including the infamous 'Silver Car' one time valued at $5000, that started the whole special race paint scheme thing. With that being said, I still have a soft spot for some of his stuff, so if you have any really rare stuff shoot me a line. Good luck with finding your stuff a new home. BTW, I live on Earnhardt Dr.

I am not sure if any of my stuff is that rare or not. A lot of what I have came from Chevrolet dealers back when that was the only place you could get a lot of his stuff.

I agree with your assessment of the market place though. I should have sold this stuff back then! LOL From what I can tell most of the 1/24th cars are valued around $25 - $30 with a few exceptions.

Drop me your email and I can send you some pictures. I would like to sell it as one lump, just for ease of doing it even though piecemeal may net more money but a lot more time and effort as well.

The Die-Cast market was flooded and ruined in 1999 by Action and Racing Champions. 1998 was the peak, with the 50th anniversary of NASCAR. These 2 companies did so well that they made 3 times as many in 1999 and 2000 that all value dropped to 10 cents on the dollar. I have thousands of Hot Wheels, Racing Champions, Action, Winners Circle, Treasure Hunts, Chase Cars, etc. Some pieces as rare as 1 of 3 made, and there they sit, hoping the market comes back somewhat so I could get 50 cents on the dollar. If I was able to sell the lot I would have, but there are no big buyers out there, they know how long these will sit. Hope you guys can make a deal, wish I could. There was a time I could walk into a store, find that special car for $1.00, post it on ebay and get $70.00-150.00 for it, those same cars are now $8-10.00. Sat on these for too long!

Maybe the best thing to do is just to give them to my grandsons and let them play with them! At least someone would get some joy from them! LOL

I mostly bought the stuff because I was a big DE fan and I worked for Chevrolet Dealers in the parts departments and GM was his sponsor. I never figured I would get rich off the stuff but I also never figured it would all one day be just another toy either.
