Ordered a fairing, Joe painting it for me.
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:00:26 AM »

After a ton of thinking about it I finally decided on a Memphis Shades fairing and Joe at Xtreme Dimension is going to shoot the color.  I thought the Memphis looked the most like the HD batwing.  The price was also very reasonable compared to other companies.

I am very excited about getting this on the bike.  I have been a committed RK guy since 2000, but I am wanting a bit of wind and bug protection in my more mature years.   (still young, but been riding over 25 years.)

I have a 2013 SERK in maroon.  I am now looking to try and fit a couple extra speakers on the handlebar such as the HD boom audio type that clamps on the bars.  Not sure how to wire in though with current system.

I had looked into adding some speakers at one time also and if I remember correctly it included adding an amp. If I were you I would contact Sounds customs and pick their brain about it. Look under Vendor discounts I believe you can find their contact info there. You will be pleased with Joe's work. He did an outstanding job on me Swinebox.

Good deal! You'll like the Memphis Shades. I had mine painted Hot Rod black on the back side. Looks awesome!

Good luck.

Looks great!  Joe and I had the conversation about what to do with the backside.  We decided we would wait until he actually got the fairing in his hands to decide.

Really glad to hear you are happy with it.  Looking forward to a little less wind and hopefully a little more sound!

I have focal 6x9 speakers in mine.  Zumo gps also all wired to handlebar controls.  Speakers work together with all stock ones.

I gotcha.  Thanks, I spoke with the owner of Dragonfly when I was considering going that route.  I remember him telling me that they had to have a special wiring harness made to make all that happen. I wonder how much of that is BS and how much is legit?  He wouldn't say what was so special about it or how it worked.

I just remember Drangonfly wanted to charge an arm, leg and at least one vital organ for theirs.

I felt the same way.  I heard a lot of bad about their customer service as well.

I went through the dragonfly problems also. Joe is now doing me a dead center fairing for my 2013 cvo king. I ordered from df on july 6th 2013 and was told 6 - 8 weeks, called them end of September, end of October, never received 1 call back or anything. I was lucky to get my money fully returned to me by my credit union. Dealing with joe was like talking to a family member, called me back when he said he was and never tried to sell me something that I do not need.

You are absolutely correct.  I didn't like the feeling I got talking with DF about their lead times, pricing, etc.

You are again correct about talking with Joe, I have never felt so secure about a long distance transaction ever before.  I sent the bags out west when I had my 07 RK and put hard bags on, it took a good while and the pricing was much higher than Joe's.

I wasn't going to get a fairing because of the quote I received until I found Joe and he gave me a very reasonable price and made the project affordable.
