Big Nut on sprocket?
« on: March 23, 2014, 05:00:05 PM »

Ok let me get this straight ........ it took 3 men and a dog to loosen the 2 - 1/4 inch nut and now the book says tighten to 100 ft lbs and back of one full turn and then tighten to 35 ft lbs and no locktite? then 30 - 45 degrees till holes line up for lock plate.   wtf. just seems weird to me. :-\

You forgot that it must be done during a full moon when the planets are in alignment.   :drink:

Loctite or similar may have been holding it on originally.

My Buell requires close to if 200 lb ft for the stator. I didn't think I had enough ass to get the TQ wrench to click without the bike flipping over.

Is that using a new sprocket nut? Cause the new ones come with loctite already. My book says to clean old loctite and apply new red

Just talked to Baker today about this nut they had some suggestions. As I will be installing my DD7 in a few weeks. 1st its a right hand thread, not left hand like the older bikes. 2nd you will need to heat up the nut with a torch to break the locktite, I saw on here some people have used an impact wrench to get it off so maybe that's a better answer I do have a 4ft long 1" drive breaker bar but might have to chain the bike down to use that.
