tyres 2011 flhtcuse
« on: May 13, 2014, 03:48:16 AM »

Hi all, just trying to get some feedback on different tyres that people may have tried out in the past. Good and bad feedback with regards to wear rates, handling etc would all be appreciated as i'm looking to replace the standard dunlops on my 2011 flhtcuse.  I mostly use the bike for two up touring. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Put a Michelin Commander II on the front of my cuse7 about 6k ago.  So far I like it just fine.  Going to put the same on the rear next week.  Reason I am trying Michelin is because of the myriad problems with sidewall cracks and cupping I have experienced with Dunlops.  Too soon to tell if the Michelins will hold up any better or last any longer mileage.  But I don't think they can be any worse than the D407 / D408 Dunlops.  I know several folks run the Dunlop American Elites - their 'aftermarket' tire for H-Ds - they don't have H-D molded into the sidewall and the tread pattern is different.  No personal experience with them but have heard they are better than the D407 / D408.

Do the American Elites have the proper load rating?

Yes - same as oem D407 / D408.  65 front, 81 rear.

Do the American Elites have the proper load rating?
Yes, they do, but the SEUCs use a 17" front and 16" rear, not the 18" that SG and RG use.

Only the HD-branded Dunlop 180/55 x 18 has a high-enough load rating. The OP was asking about SEUCs, and Ultrafxr was correct for SEUCs.

Thanks. I was replying for SEUCs as you stated.

I was afraid of that. Thanks!
