18" handlebars for Road King
« on: April 21, 2014, 04:32:26 PM »

Howdy all,

Anyone on the boards around 5"8 that have installed 18" handlebars by chance? Thinking of getting 18" Cordovas for my 13 SERK. My head is saying get the 16" but my eyes say 18. Wondering if anyone else around my height/arm length has made out well on a handlebar with good pullback. Based on some other reading here it sounds like I'd have to replace/extend a few cables. Any insight specifically for the SERK on that front would be appreciated also.

How high are your hands going to be above your shoulders? In some states it is not legal to run bars above your shoulders. I have also heard of people with tall apes having there hands go to sleep due to reduced circulation from holding your hands that high for a long period of time. Why do you want to go with 18's???

thanks. based on the way the bars bend I figured I would have a little more pullback with the 18" even though they are longer. also thought it give the bike a different look at 18"

18 will require longer Clutch and brake lines, it will also require all wires extended, I know I had to do it with 14's.

I am 6' and look long and hard at going 16.  Would have put my hands about 1 inch above my shoulders.  Seeing my idea for a nice day ride is around 250 miles in the twisties I figure I was better off having my hands 1 inch below my shoulders.

I am running 14's on both my CVO's.  I average 22000 to 24000 miles a year on bikes.
