step 2 says to locate the harness.   should be about 2' unwound.

I cannot find this harness anywhere on my 13 cvo road king.

I have the plate bracket in, the led on the top hooked up to the oem spot behind the fender.  it works fine,   I've ran the wire from the bottom of the plate up to the side panel.

but I can't find this tri plug thing anywhere.

i have the secondary harness with 4 plugs as well as the wire running from the plate bracket and have no idea where to hook them up.

any help would be appreciated

I'm in the same boat. Can't ride until I get it back together. I'll post an update if/when I find the little sucker.

I don't have the answer but have you called Kuryakyn with the question? and are the instructions for a CVO bike -- the harness is slightly different from the standard model on some of the CVO bikes.

I'm planning on calling Kury Tech Support tomorrow. They have just one set of instructions for all models, so I'm hoping that they can provide additional info or clarification.  The closest wire I could find to what they reference in the instructions is the one going to the security siren.  I went ahead and pulled the fuse so I could disconnect it, but the plug/connector is a completely different shape than the Y-adapter they provide in the kit.  So, the search continues.

Worse comes to worse, I can tee into one of the harnesses going back to the tails.  However, I'd rather not do that unless I absolutely have to.  I wasn't planning on going with the tri-light frame - I originally just wanted the curved license frame.  But a member here was selling both the backing mount and the tri-light frame for a great price, so it pushed me over the edge to go forward with it.  I had Joe at Xtreme paint both pieces so it won't look quite as busy back there, but am at a standstill on getting it back together until I can find this plug or go with Plan B.

I called Kury Tech Support this morning.  The tech couldn't answer why the plug was not found on the CVO Roadking.  He took down my name and number, and was going to talk to the Product Manager to try and find more details out.

If I want to go forward with this I may have to vampire (because I'm not willing to splice at this point) into one of the taillight harnesses to give it power and signal it needs.

Quick question for those of you who have Bushtech trailers - I'm assuming that there is some type of wiring that connects the trailer to the bike for brake and run lighting on it.  What type of plug do you connect that harness to - is it one of the taillight harness connectors directly under the seat, or something else (I'm referencing the stock wiring harness of a 2013 SERK - not sure what the harness would be for other models)?

Thanks,

of course I called them

on the instruction sheet, it specifically lists "2013 road king"

I couldn't find it,  the shop that did my cam install couldn't find it, they called another guy that knows the bikes really well, and he says it's not there.

the only accessory harness I could find is the one that goes to the switch on the front of the bike.

we just ended up splicing into the factor harness at the plug right behind the seat.

all kuryagan had to say the 2 different times I called was "it's there"

Looks like I'm doing plan B based on your experience, Beef.  I'm only going to vampire onto the harness (which I know is not the best method) in case I ever want to take this thing back off.

I personally would solder the connections.   it's still very easy to take back apart if you ever get rid of it

Kury Tech support called me back this afternoon, and confirmed what we already knew - that they couldn't find anything for the CVO RK.  However, he did explain that the reason they use that plug is that it's normally there for touring bikes that don't already have a tour pack on them.  This is why it's 2 feet long.  I'm thinking that Harley's expansion harness for adding a tour pack probably ties into one of the 6 pin plugs that the tail light harnesses connect to.  Maybe someone who has added a tour pack to their Road King or Street Glide could chime in on that.

At this point, it isn't worth it to me to track down an additional harness to tie this in. I'd rather just get the curved frame without the lights at the bottom.  I don't mind trying to tie this one into the existing harness since I've already had it painted to match the bike.  If that doesn't work, then it will probably go up for sale or the scrap heap.

Thanks,

On my 2012 SESG, the three-wire connector (run-brake-ground) is under the left side cover. It's quite short... only two or 3 inches long. I rerouted it up under the seat, to have more room to work with it. I don't know if this connector is supplied on a SERK or not.

We're pretty sure it isn't there, Ken.  I'm guessing that those SERK owners who have added a Tour Pak probably put some other Harley Harness/Adapter on on the plugs that goes to the taillight assembly.  I was tempted to research it for curiosity's (or sanity) sake, but have enough on my plate to just go ahead and tap into an existing harness to get Saphira back together for riding (the weather is finally getting around to being good up here).

Thanks,
