This.

It's amazing how two people can hear the same exhaust and have completely different opinions of the sound.

I agree. We all have different views and opinions and that's what makes life great.

Spend a saturday afternoon at a HARLEY HOT SPOT or dealership.  Invest a little time, it will save you a lot of money!  IMO loud is only when you want to be loud, plenty of options out there that give you loud when you throttle down, and nice tone at highway speeds so you can hear music.  Don't listen to anyone.............. :nixweiss:....................instead listen for yourself!

The type of head pipe will play a big role in the sound of a muffler.  If you are using the factory head pipe remove the catalytic converter or go with a aftermarket pipe that does not have a catalytic converter the sound of just about any muffler will be louder and deeper.

I've got a set of Vance and Hines High Output Slipons for sale!

Had them paired up with the V&H dresser duals. Deep, Loud and sounded bad ass when rippin'n it but just too loud for me.

I ran them for about 2 years.

hey folks, I have the "vance & hines monster oval" and I'm not satisfied ... the exhaust is definitely me too quiet. Does anyone have a recommendation for brutal sound? Perhaps even with image...?

Please help - thank you!

(I know some like it soft and other loud  ;))

Compression, cam, displacement, will wake up the pipes you have now.

I like the 4" Rineharts. They can be relatively quiet when LEO is close by, but a good twist of the throttle gives a deep growl, allowing me to awaken sleepy or texting drivers not paying attention to their surroundings.
They're not obnoxiously loud, but loud enough to stand out from the crowd.
The 3.5" Rineharts I replaced were harsher, louder and not as refined in my opinion. But the 4" exhaust has a nice throaty rumble that just makes me want to ride a few more miles!

Bottom line: like so many things MC, you just have to please yourself.  Good luck!

if you're going after sound similar to your bigshots why not just put V&H 2-2 Big Radius on your FL?

If you want to make some noise those pipes will do it  :o
I have them on my Fatboy and they are plenty loud.

Recommend you find a bike with Bassani 2 into 1.

Then ride behind them for 15 minutes and see what you think.

:2vrolijk_21:True.  On my '05 I had Bassani's.  Great sound quality but not deafening.  If I didn't have the CFR's I would go with Bassani.  :2vrolijk_21:
