I just picked the bike up a week ago.  I changed the mufflers, but would like to change the headers.  I don't have the shop manual yet.  I put V&H Dresser Duals on my last three bikes and they were pretty easy to change.  How were they to change on the new CVO limited?  Did you have to move/remove the lowers?  Thanks.

No, the lowers do not have to be removed.  You will have to remove the rider foot board but nothing else.
You should invest in a service manual as there is much useful information there.

Thanks for your reply.  I agree about the service manual, but I forgot about it when I picked the bike up.

You will want to get the service manual (non cvo) and the cvo supplemental manual for your type of bike (tourning, softail, etc.). For most non specific 110 engine work you will find you use the larger non cvo service manual the most.

And the parts manual is very helpful.  It has exploded diagrams of everything showing how things go together.

Here is a tip:

Use masking tape on the edge of the lowers, cam cover, bottom of the air cleaner, clutch cover and anywhere else that looks like it could get scratched.  I also put shop towels on top of the trqns cover and the oil filter area.

I also really like using the Stage8 nuts

Get new gaskets, freeze them the day before, spray the old nuts the with wd40 also the day before

Use proper torque sequence, line it ALL up before tightening anything think that's in the manual

1/4 ratchet works out easier than the 3/8 ratchet

Use anti-seeze not Loctite

Sure I missed something, just take your time and enjoy working on the bike

It's a one beer job. Don't overthink it and make it more complicated than it is. Very simple to do.

Thanks for all of the replies.  I have done it before on three different bikes, including my 12CVO SG.  I just wanted to make sure there was nothing in particular that I had to watch out for on this model before I started.  The new headers arrived yesterday so I'll probably do it tomorrow.  Thanks again.
