I have been monitoring mine bike since the temp has reached 100+ this past week. My EITMS kicks in at 289 Deg. ET, according to the power vision. The only question I have is what should be the safe zone for ET?

The engine was designed to be air cooled, and the manufacturer offers a 2-year, unlimited-mileage warranty on it utilizing standard non-synthetic oil with 5,000 mile change intervals.

Simply put, Harley offers the same bike, with the same oil, with the same maintenance intervals, with the same ECM programming, with the same warranty in Alaska as it does in Arizona.  You do not have to worry about overheating.

To give you a rough idea, I'm attaching an old tech tip that shows the heat management settings for the older models.  Late model bikes are set up to go into EITMS mode at roughly 287°F head temperature.  Note on the 2005 and earlier models the system at that time didn't get to the skip fire part of the system until the head temp got up to 356°F.

EITMS is more of a rider comfort system than a true engine protection system.  Shutting down that rear cylinder and just pumping air through it cools both the rear cylinder and more importantly the rear exhaust pipe.  Those are the parts that are in close proximity to your right leg.

If you are more interested in improving engine reliability than you are in rider comfort, I'd suggest adding cooling fans.

A few notes to keep things straight here.

The Shower head bikes work purely from ambient air temperature and time run, that's it, does not matter what the engine temperature is.

The Air cooled engines work from time run and engine temperature. The engine temperature set points and the way it handles it, very over the years.

EITMS on a shower head is just about rider comfort as it has nothing to do about engine temperature.
EITMS on an Air cooled engine is about protecting the engine and the rider comfort
