Harley Museum
« on: May 20, 2014, 06:05:16 PM »

Any one been to the Harley Museum?  Planning to go there over the Memorial Weekend from the thumb area, across the UP and down to Milwaukee.  While I'm in the area, stop into Duluth Trading.  Is 4 hours enuf time to see everything at the museum and is there anything else significant to see or do?

4 hrs is a good time.  you won't be able to remember every detail about everything you see, so in that time you'll be hitting input overload.  i spent about that amount of time there, including having lunch at the restaurant (excellent sandwich and microbrew :D) and the giftstore.  the giftstore wasn't all that.  i think i bought a poker chip....

Yes I could spend all day easy.  When I was there it was crowded I am sure that slowed things down.
Great experience and I hear they have much more that they will be changing displays.
Well worth it!!!

That's plenty of time to enjoy all the memories there.  I also had the pleasure of touring the P&H JOY Global Plant, while I was there.  Amazing!  8) Later--HUBBARD

when i was in the area, i also went by and met the folks from j&s jacks.  i was going to buy one direct from them, but they were out of stock....  they do sell to local hd shops, so he called one that he had just sent a shipment to, and asked them to hold it for me.  went and bought it from them.  hd shop also gave me a military discount so that was cool.

not far from the museum is the engine plant.  i went on that tour also, only took about a half hour, but very interesting none the less.  i was the only one there at the time, so it was a one-on-one tour.  how cool is that?

Its a cool place to go. We went across to Muskegon and took the fast ferry across. It was a good trip. Lots to see there. At the time I still owned my 2000 SERG so it was cool to see they had one of them in storage in the museum.

Was there a couple weeks ago.  4 hours is plenty of time.  My girl and I took about 1 1/2 hours and had seen enough to get by.
Had way more enjoyment going to the Ford museum in Dearborn (and I am a Chevy guy)

Guess I'm not a museum guy.  Enjoyed the ride, but an hour of the museum was enuf for us.  I think we killed all the bugs with our windshields, in both Michigan and Wisconsin.

Museum restaurant was good, with good beer when we were there last year.  Have been twice.  Both times 2 hours was plenty.  The #1 bike in the glass case is really cool, and actually looks ok in a picture.  Watch for potholes in downtown Milwaukee.  Streets were like mini mine fields last year.

I have been twice to the museum.  Spent about 4 to 5 hours each time including lunch and a cold beer.  I really love looking at the old bikes and information.  Did behind the scenes once.  I am sure I will go again if I am in the area.

I went about 2 years ago and truly loved it.  I spent 4-5 hours there.  Took lots of pics.  I Am a total sucker for old iron.  I can look at those old motors for hours.   I have been photographing vintage motor for wall art for several years now and can't get enough of them.
