Dyno/tuner costs
« on: August 19, 2014, 02:54:26 PM »

I have a 13 FLHTCUSE8 and have installed the Fullsac header and 2.0 baffles along with the TTS tuner and a canned map that Fullsac provided.

If I were to take the bike and the tuner to a tuner guy and have them dyno the bike and tweak the tune what should I expect the cost to have this done be?

Also the rest of the engine is stock and I intend to stay that way, I am happy with the power. I know some will say then why do you want to have it dynode and tuned? Because I do not think the heat went down and my gas mileage definitely went down. from 45 - 48 putting around to around 40 when putting around. Interstate went from around 40 to about 32.

First find a recommended tuner that you are willing to drive to, and be sure he tunes using the TTS unit.

Frank Drago at Drago's has a great reputation, not only for his exhaust pipes, but for tuning with the TTS as well. He is in Machesney Park, Illinois if that's near you, since I see you're from Illinois.

In general, a custom tune costs between $300-$500. It is WELL worth it- people spend more than that on chrome do-dads, meanwhile the benefits of a proper tune far outweighs anything that looks pretty.

...however, if you aren't getting a dyno tune right away, in the meantime I'd call Steve at Fullsac if I were you, and tell him about your issues. He would definitely send you another map and help you out as much as possible.

I agree, to call Steve first, he should have a canned map spot-on for your combination.

FullSac is known for Customer Service.

To answer your  question, $4-500.

Let us know how it works out for you...

I too have Fullsac 2.0 baffles, header, TTS, and The Fullsac map.  My heat greatly diminished, power increased, and fuel mileage went up.  Is it possible the map didn't load and you still have the original loaded in the ECM?  Or maybe Fullsac sent you the wrong map?

Same as above, I have the header, TTS and 2" baffles. My gas mileage went up by a couple of mpg and the heat was greatly diminished. I think you had a problem loading the new map, call Steve he will straighten it out before you spend $500.00 for a tune. A competent tuner will get a gain over a canned map but you have to decide if the expense is worth the gains. Many on here have had great luck with his maps. I am going to tune mine but I am changing cams and some other things this winter.

I have talked with Steve and we have verified that I have the correct map but I just have not had time to get on the phone with him and my laptop on the bike to verify that it did load like it should have. I guess I need to make the time somehow and do that step first.

I have fullsac DX pipe 2.25 baffles.  My first attempt did not work down loading the map.  I reloaded the map from the email and reinstalled this fixed everything.   I wish I would have listened to Steve about the 2 inch but I wanted slightly louder.  Going to Sturgis my bsr said after a few hrs her ears were humming when she got off the bike.   But she loves the sound just not on them long trips.

Get with Steve he knows his stuff and tts.

By the way your still going to have some heat no matter what your sitting on top of the engine and the pipes are next to your leg.  You should notice a very very noticeable decrease in my opinion.

The heat should go down considerable amount once you get it V-tuned. You can do this yourself with a laptop. A full dyno tune is absolutely the way to go however. There are things that need to be tweaked besides the VE tables. You can further reduce the heat by setting it up to run in open loop but that will hurt the fuel mileage.

You can run a vtune recording with flight recorder.  Run the vtune and see where you are at.  You don't have to do anything with the new generated map besides look at the changes it want to make.  All you do need is the cables and I assume you have them because you are downloading Fulsac cals.

The nice thing is you can set it up for 20-30 minute recordings. Go ride all day.  Down load recordings off the VCI and run them all at once in vtune.  Ride normal and see what changes it wants to make in the actual area you ride in.  If you have darker red and white numbers.  I'd address it.
