I disagree. 230F - 250°F is the normal range you should expect with a Twin Cam engine unless you've added extra oil cooling capacity beyond what came stock.
If you don't believe the gauge, it is very easy to use a pan of boiling water and a known good thermometer to check the dipstick.
What oil temperature were you expecting, and why?

Here in Memphis on a 95* day FACTORY 2011-2013 110" motors EASILY hit 280*-300* oil temp at stoplights or in traffic jams after being on the highway! It is imperative to get rid of the cat with a proper header, tune the motor on a dyno and add a wards part werks 160* thermostat as well as oil cooer fans (big sky) or change your cooler to a fan cooled unit (jagg or others) Head cooling fans help tremendously as well.
100% synthetic in a Straight 60 wt (amsoil or Redline) 20w60 (Redline) or 10w60(Liquid moly) Are also a great idea!
