Change the pipes on a 2014 CVO Road King
« on: July 27, 2014, 02:47:02 PM »

Hi guys new to all this, never been a member in a forum before. Just recently purchased a 2014 cvo road king. Love the bike great performance, brakes and handling. My question is I would love to change the pipes but I'm told you can lose that low down torque. As we say in Ireland what's the craic ! Any comments please.

I have changed the complete exhaust system on my 2013 cvo road king, and with the correct fueler/tune there is a definite increase in power and torque throughout the rev range and it also sounds like a real Harley should!!
hope this info helps
regards,
Paul.

Got the dealer to put on V&H slip ons on mine, but also had it staged 1 using the SEPRO Tuner. I haven't noticed any low down torque issues, but I never rode it with stock exhausts. In the UK by the way

Just fitted V&H Dresser Duals with twin slash oval slip ons on mine. Also fitted the V&H Fuel Pack 3 which is an amazing bit of kit. I haven't noticed any loss of low down torque. It appears to run cooler but is very very very loud! I'm going to try some V&H quiet baffles in the cans to see if it cuts down the loud crack when accelerating hard. Will update when fitted.

As with any engine modification using parts that are matched to work together always give better results. Mixing and matching typically gets people into trouble. Some are better and some are worse so take your time and see what others are using and getting good results with then try and find someone local to see if it's really what you want. The CVO RK already has a high flow air cleaner and a slightly better exhaust than a non CVO bike but the exhaust can be improved just as the ECM calibration can be. Done properly there is NO loss at low RPM's and typically and increase is had.
