2015 RG Ultra Engine Mods?
« on: September 19, 2014, 10:01:29 AM »

While I am out putting the miles on my 2015 CVO road glide, I am wondering if anyone is building performance parts and packages for the twin cooled 110?  It seems that keeping the heads cooler my open up other performance possibilities.

What do you think/ or have heard?

Due to the add-on approach Harley took the same kits and packages we used on the air cooled motor apply, with discretion.
What are your horsepower and torque goals, or more specifically what is it you wish to gain?
How do you ride, miles per year, typical payload, riding style?

It's no different then the 14 twin cooled 110.  Plenty of options.

Day rides with my wife mostly and would like more torques.  Each year I take a 4-6K ride out west, ending up in Wyoming, but usually back roads, so reliability is still important.  I have an exhaust and tune on it right now, and it has been great, but I would love more grunt and a bit more passing power.

We have installed cams in the 2014 CVO twin cooled and have two on the ticket once the dealers have the CVO RG in. Nothing changes other than the engine is temperature stable.  :2vrolijk_21: They are making the same power as a non twin cooled version.

Would you expect roughly the perfomance as the dyno graph on your website?  S&S power duals with monster ovals and SE Tuner.  It cam from the factory with a SE air cleaner.  Pretty impressive stuff on your website and FB page!

Riding 2 u and being Twin Cooled may open up the opportunity to run a little shorter cams (the stock 255's may suit you depending on your riding style) than others in the same boat without the water cooled advantage of the Twin Cooled heads and allow you to maintain enough grunt for the 2 up scenario. Maybe some new lifters and getting rid of the cat, a ceramic coated header instead of the S&S if you haven't already gotten the S&S headers. Another issue we've seen with those headers is the bolts breaking off of the bracket that bolts to the trans housing/casing. The heads are a little overkill for the stock compression of a 110 and the valve springs are a little harsh on the stock lifters. Getting the cat out, a set of good lifters and an free flowing exhaust and whatever slipons you prefer and a great tune may be all it takes to make you happy... for a while...

Two combinations that have done well are

Drago 565 cam and his ceramic coated pipe the other is the 24d or 577 GMR cam with Drago pipe and a good tune.   This does not mean skip all the associated other things you would want to do like check runout, leak down, compression, lifter changes etc.   There is enough threads on this on the site, but the idea is not to give up very much on the bottom, have the bike run cooler, stronger and last as long as possible.

Several guys around have these combinations and you should take a look for yourself and then go by the results and their experience.

If and when you you want to go further take that next step look into having Sachs do your heads.

Good luck with your build.

Dragos 565 or the 580 both proven performers  :2vrolijk_21:

  And change the springs
