XM: Check Antenna message.. And signal ?
« on: September 25, 2014, 12:49:27 PM »

Anyone ever get this error code? I'm getting it since yesterday when talking with XM to start my free trial.

Also, when I go to XM, I see three hollow bars as the signal strength. Does that mean I'm getting 3 bars, or none, since they are hollow?

If they are not colored in your not getting a signal

Check your antenna connection

Since you didn't mention what bike, how long you've owned it, etc., I'm going to assume this is a new Touring model.  The error message is being confirmed by the zero bars on the signal strength display (the bars should be solid, not hollow).  I'd be willing to bet the XM antenna was never connected, or was damaged during assembly.  Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty.

And while your at it, search for the thread on this forum for moving the XM antenna outside the fairing.  you will be MUCH happier with the reception vs. it being in the fairing.

Thanks guys. Yes, new touring. 15 FLTRUSE. I planned on having the antenna moved at 1k service, looks like that will happen sooner.

No need to move antenna out of fairing, I have had three bikes with XM, they all had antenna on bracket bolted to side of radio inside fairing and they all worked great. No difference in my bike and her Escalade as far as reception on XM. I have read about folks having reception problems but I have never had any and I use XM everytime I ride, or drive the car.

I've never had any trouble with my XM. The only time it falters is when I put it in my garage. There has been a reload by XM lately. I have 3, one on bike an two in my cars. Your radio will change channels to another one with a phone number. Don't change the channel, just call the phone number an they will update the channels. If it's the first time activated you will need radio code an other info when you call,an mine has to be on channel one. Hope this helps.
