2015 Rushmore cvo ultra V pre Rushmore
« on: November 08, 2014, 06:56:06 PM »

Having read recent mostly positive comments about the 2015 cvo , whats different about the front suspension now compared to pre Rushmore . (Always commented on the pre models not good enough) ?  Are the internals different ?

The 2014 / 2015 front end on the Touring models has many significant changes, from the steering head of the frame to the upper and lower fork brackets to the new two piece steering stem to the larger diameter fork tubes and revised internals.  There is no longer a grease fitting and you must disassemble the front end to grease the steering head bearings every 25k miles.  There is a different procedure for checking and setting the steering head bearing preload adjustment.  There's probably some other stuff I've forgotten as well.  If you can get your hands on a service manual for a 2014 /2015 model you can read all the details.

As for how it works compared to the older models, I'll leave that to the folks who own a new one to give their opinions.

I wonder how necessary that will end up being needed.

BTW Jerry, how far from Goshen are you?

So instead of going back to the future, we're going forward to the past?   >:(

Corporate:  "Get rid of those grease fittings.  If disassembly was good enough for their grandfathers, it's good enough for those idiots who buy these motorcycles."
