getting the tts tune off the bike
« on: October 05, 2014, 10:23:51 AM »

I saved the original tune off my bike but it won't let me look at it to see what it was.  Its just as an mte file.  Is there something that i need to change in the file so tts will open it and i can see the calibrations so i can change my setting from closed loop to open loop?

No but maybe Steve can help you with that. But as far as I know you cannot "read" and alter  the mte.

Ya i might have to email steve.  It shows me the file but says unreadable and tts doesn't show it as a readable file.

panhead1, is this the first time you have used this laptop to download the ecm. I just had the same issue. I had the Vrod  Dyno'd with the TTS last yr. I just changed the pipes again and wanted to use the flight recorder to do it myself for now. Downloaded and updated the TTS software to my wifes old laptop, and downloaded the ecm info and couldn't look at or tune with the dyno tuned file.   as I under stand the TTS saves the file that is in the ecm as the "OEM Tune" if it hasn't been hooked up with the laptop that you are using and will not let us play with that file even if it is not the oem tune. luckily my tuner had the dyno file still and got if from him to use tuning for the new pipe. I might be wrong but I think this is what might be.

Ya had to borrow a laptop or i wouldn't be having any of these problems cause i have all the other maps that i could just use and that were on the bike on my laptop that crashed.  I sent steve an email so hopefully he will have a solution for me.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Have you previously tuned your bike using the TTS MasterTune, and you've lost your custom calibration file (which is a .mt7 or .mt8 file)? If you have tuned it and you've lost your custom calibration file and haven't saved it somewhere, then it's gone if you have the older black dongle.

But if you have the blue dongle, the last cal flashed into the ECM is saved in the dongle, so you can retrieve it to a PC running the TTS software, and you can edit it.

I suggest you go read the TTS Tuning Guide to familiarize yourself with the TTS MasterTune. The OEM stock tune to which you are referring (the .mte file that was saved) is NOT editable and never has been. It is saved solely to enable you to restore your bike to a totally stock calibration.

If you want to tune your bike using the TTS, you need to go choose one of the TTS calibrations that most closely matches your engine hardware configuration from the TTS library, flash it into your bike, do a CamTune run to get your IVO setting right, and then go do VTune runs to get the VE tables mapped to your bike's engine configuration. That's the way the TTS system works.

MTE = Master Tune Encrypted

The file is encrypted so you cannot view or edit it.

 :oops: :nixweiss:

I maybe wrong on that.  I just looked at a MT7 file and it states it is encrypted too.

Yes i have tuned this bike and lots of other bikes with the tts.  But since my laptop crapped out on me i lost all of my tunes.  I don't have the blue tts i have the older black one.  I just needed the tune off the bike cause the canned maps just don't work that well with all the changes.  Luckily i found some emials i sent out earlier with my tune about some other stuff so i got it now.

Glad it worked out!

FYI, you can upload your custom tunes to the TTS site to store them safely there.
