Looking for exhaust suggestions.
« on: October 12, 2014, 02:50:50 PM »

Here's a pic of my new-to-me 09 Springer Softail CVO.  The bike is completely as it came from the factory, which I love, except for the exhaust note: it's way too quiet.  I love the simple look of the pipes.  Can the baffles be modified for better sound or should I look for aftermarket pipes?  If aftermarket is the answer, are there any particular brands I should look for or stay away from?

Looks, style, & sound (what you like) is going to be a big deciding factor on what exhaust to get. Do you want traditional 2 into 2, want best performance - 2 into 1, you want "swoop" look, or "straight" look... now for sound (mild to loud) best thing to do is to visit bike nights, events, and any other arena that will provide bikes similar to yours (CVO softails) so you can at least hear/look/decide on what a similar motor (110ci) and style (softail) will look and sound.

Now for my personal opinion/choice.... I'm partial to a 2 into 1 on a softail as I had on my previous bike (Fatboy)... and like the V&H 2 into 1 Big Radius....

X3 on the Pro Pipe! This is the best looking, performing and sounding exhaust I ever had on any of my Harleys. I will never buy anything but this pipe as long as I live.

Phantom309 I do love the pipe also but not sure I would have it on the bagger. It is a bit loud for touring and I like the exhaust on both sides for looks on the full dresser. Just because I differ does not mean it is not a great(best ;)) pipe.

Hey, nothing wrong with that ... we're all different. I thought the looks would bother me too at first but not after seeing what it did for my bike. I personally don't find this to be bad at all for touring. I actually found the Power Duals/Monster Ovals more irritating on the highway on my old RGU ... good sound but had that constant booming in your ears around that happy cruising speed. I don't get that at all with the ProPipe, it definitely is louder when you crank on it.
