My dealer always gets me in within couple of days. Look for another one within riding distance.

It is the dealer.  I also let the dealer do the first 1K just to makes sure there are no challenges later and then, as many people stated, I do the others myself.

Just keep ridin...that service doesnt have to happen right at 1000K. If you go over it's no big deal...Take it in when they say they can take it.

2 or three days is the longest I have ever had to wait for an appointment.  They also always tell me if I want it sooner, show up just before service opens and they should be able to get me done that day.

Also, I have showed up with 1450 miles on the bike for the 1000 miles service 72 hours after I bought the bike.  They laughed when I made the appointment Friday 4 hours before I took delivery for Monday at 0900.  When I showed up, with that many miles, there was no laughing.
