V&H OS 450s
« on: November 15, 2014, 02:50:02 PM »

Debating between the V&Hs HOs and the newer 450s - like the looks of the 450s better but I haven't heard them yet.  At present, I'm running Reinharts 4" and I'm tired of the raspy high pitch...  Anyone running them or have opportunity to compare sound/performance??  Thanks.

I have the VH Hi OP with the VH power duals and VH Fuel pak 3 and love them.. 2nd bike Ive put them on. You have to like loud but not too loud and very deep.. I seemed to lose a little torq at higher rpms so I added the optional "quiet" baffles .. gave me a little more torq and I didn't lose hardly any sound. It sounds a little deeper now.. Sorry I don't know about the 450s. Let me know if you find out about them..
Good Luck

Thanks for the info.  Per V&H, the 450s are somewhat quieter than the HOS and are 4 1/2" for the length of the entire pipe, unlike the tapered HOs.  If you later put in a "quiet baffel" I think you would need to re-tune the bike as the air-flow would be somewhat altered...

Yeah.. That's whats nice about the new Fuel pak3... You can change the map via Bluetooth for the quiet baffle.. or just about any pipe combo. If you cant find your map in the FP you can use the autotune to tune the bike. You can also use autotune with the map of your VH setup .. I have found it gave me a few more HP and few more ft pds of Torq with the Autotune .. It customizes or fine tunes your mapping based on the kind of rider you are.. Yeah I could get more HP and Torq with the SERT and dyno but would lose MPGs and cost about $800.. its not worth it to me..

So how did you "found" it gave you more HP and Torque?

had it dynoed both with the map specific for the power duals and hi OP slip ons and I changed the map to the autotune ( you have to ride the bike at least 1 tank of gas) then Had it dynode again to see if there was a difference.. The autotune gave me a couple HP and Torq more.  Now Im working on the bike with the quiet baffle inserts but haven't had it dynoed to see what it is.. It feels stronger on the the topside rpms.  My dynos by Harley dealer are base runs each time I change the map in the Fuel[ak 3.

Can I ask why you installed the quiet baffles into the HOs?  Were they just too loud?  All the time or just on long rides?  Do you wear earplugs?  Thanks.

I like loud, low and deep and I didn't want to lose too much sound .. I wanted more torq  which feels like it gave me . Havent had it dynoed yet though to see how much more.. No I don't wear plugs. The QBs mellowed out the highway cruising sound..but I can hardly tell the difference on start up or off the line,, I like it better over all. They cost about 70 for the pair.

Thanks again.  I'm probably going to go with the OS 450s - I've got a great tuner in S CA says no torque problems with the HOs on the CVOs or 103 with cams...

So why go to quiet baffles?   :nixweiss:

For the back pressure more torg and fortunately made it deeper without losing hardly any dbs .. I think "quiet" baffles is a misnomer

Past experience with an 09 SE 110 FLXTSS3. And talking with the dyno folks at the HD dealer.
