Windshield fairing pouch fitment issue
« on: January 08, 2015, 04:57:46 PM »

FL Newbie here!

Did some looking thru the sticky threads and found little to nothing about windshield pouches.

I have a question for you 'Batwing' style fairing CVO owners regarding 3 pocket fairing pouches.

I have a 3 pocket leather HD pouch that does not fit very well behind the windshield.  Does not like the upper leather dash pad trim on these CVO's.  Sits high and crooked.  It is obvious that the GPS mount interfers with the left pouch which may explain why that side pouch has snaps and is removable.  Is the any leather style 2 or 3 pocket pouches available that are made for this application that does not require removing the dash pad?

Pic of what I am currently trying to do and yes it is off another HD without the upper dash pad.

Try Insko Leather in Apollo, Pa. They used to make a dash bag for CVO's with the leather dash.

They still do.  They sell on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/151111285526.

I have one.  Its made for the CVO with leather dash pad.  It fits well and looks good.

The padded dash makes it rather difficult to get lined up at times.
What I did was remove the windshield trim with the 3 screws and remove or loosen the 2 (1 0n each side) screws by the speakers. Loosen the lower screws. This will give you enough space to get it lined up. If I remember right it was the right side that I had trouble getting into it's proper place.
It is doable and it does fit correctly.

dirtdobber...thanks for explaining this procedure, question:  By loosing the lower screws below the speakers, you were able to make this fit happen with the left 'snap' pouch still attached or did you have to abandon it completely due to the GPS mount?

As you describe even with the left pouch removed (as pictured in earlier post) the right side is the problem. Trying to 'push' the pouch mounting 'sleeve' low enough between the dash pad and the windshield is tough as the bottom of the right pouch meets dash pad and causes the sleeve to be about 3/4 of and inch high on that corner.

Before buying another pouch setup as described in post above I am going to give your suggestion a try.

The problem I was having was not being able to get lined up properly which caused it not to be level.
When I had enough room by doing what I posted I was able to see the problem and get it lined up correctly.
I did mine alone but a extra set of hands really helps.
Yes it worked.
Did you also remove or cut off any of the plastic bracket that goes between the windshield and fairing?
If you only removed the left pouch then it should not make any difference. You have 3 alignments on it. Each one goes on the screw hole between the fairing and windshield..  It took me a while to figure it out the first time. I was doing it with a flash light. LOL
I will look at the photo again

The padded dash will make the pouches a little higher but not much as you can see it.
That was the same problem I was having. It will only work one way and you got to get it lined up properly which is what takes so long. I just stayed at it and I heard it when it popped in place. It was level. That is about all you can expect.
