Infotainment System Comes on at Start Up?
« on: December 09, 2014, 01:05:09 PM »

When I start my bike most times than not the infotainment system comes on.  It doesn't matter if it was left in the "on" or "off" position when the bike was last shut off.  Sometimes it doesn't automatically turn on at bike start up.  Any thoughts?

if it comes on at startup and you don't want it on, turn it off.  if it doesn't come on at startup and you want it on, turn it on.  if it comes on and you do want it on, crank the volume  :2vrolijk_21:

not being a smartass, but that seems like one of those 'idiosyncrasies' like how my ipod will sometimes start with the very first track (alphabetized), or pick up where it left off.  just depends on it's mood.....

I seem to remember other folks mentioning the same behavior on the new and unimproved "Rushed More" infotainment system, along with a boatload of other problems.  Contact your friendly dealer and have them check with H-D about if and when H-D intends to fix all those issues.  So far it seems that each new software download has created more problems than it fixed, at least based on the many posts I've seen around here over the past year.

The next software update will introduce a new bug:  it won't turn on at all unless you've shut off the engine to sneak in quietly, then it comes on with AC/DC at full volume.

I read this thread earlier today. Was out in the garage playing with the radio and couldn't figure out how to shut the thing off  ::)  Guess it's time to open that 200 page manual and start reading about it  :P

Don't complain!   :wall:   My '13, F-150 manual is 592 pages with about 150 devoted to operating the "infotainment"  system.     :nervous:    :nervous:

;D    That's what happens when people keep buying more and more gadgets on their vehicles.  With the explosion of electronics comes a huge increase in the size of the manuals, which unfortunately most people don't bother to read anyway.  I'm going to guess that eventually the companies will transform all those paper manuals to audio-visual files they can play on your infotainment screen, to save printing costs.  Then all the salesman will have to do is show you how to start the movie.

And when the system doesn't work, you can't check the manual for troubleshooting tips.     Of course, MoCo would never do something that forced us to take it to the dealer.
