Just curious
« on: January 04, 2015, 02:48:23 PM »

I will probably feel a bit thick for asking this when I get the answer but here goes. What are the two threaded holes in the piece between the down tubes above the oil cooler on a 2014 Touring frame for? My bike is a SERK.

I am sure they make moustache bars with highway pegs to attach to it, probably a whole lot more in the aftermarket. My Road glide has a clamp holding the clutch line bolted to the right hole.

That's for the tow truck driver to install the screw in eyelets when towing the bike on a flat bed trailer :P

A little OT, but one of the things they did to improve the frames was to make that brace out of solid over stamped.   Back on topic.  The stamped also have threaded nuts welded on back.

I've seen them used as a place to mount plastic piece to help strap the bike down to the factory crate before transporting. The dealer removes and tosses them for part that $400 dealer prep charge we so gladly pay.....  ;)
