My wife got a call from her 89 yr old mother a couple of years ago that she had a flat tire and needed help.
We go over to help and sure enough in the parking lot she had a flat and a broken wheel. I asked what she hit and her reply was "nothing". looking around I saw body molding and debris across the lot. Sure enough she went parking "island" hopping and left the underside of her car there.
She was a stubborn German, so taking the car away was not an option unless you wanted to experience that wrath.
At 91 she still has her car sitting in the driveway that will not start, do my disconnecting the battery. She still thinks she can drive, but we have the comfort knowing she is not going anywhere.
PS after not driving for 6 months it is no longer an issue, but I better not take that car.
