Stand alone ign system is simple Thunder heart , makes a bolt on unit with coil , Wire up 5 or 6 wires and you are done.

We use it mainly for MM bikes to carb.  I sold one to a guy that used a late model evo case that had a crank sensor. He said it worked great. Software for ign timing is free to download.  It is about the most basic kit I have seen. All you need is a crank  sensor.

Haha! Replaced one of those last summer after the owner told me all it needed was a new starter.... which it did and also stated it was one of the first Big Dogs made. Spyke said the starters soon after were replaced by an offshore maker. Evidently the pinion gears on those were changed and made of unobtanium. If that needs replaced there aren't any on planet earth and have to custom made to stay with that setup. After replacing the starter, I found it had no fire!  ;D

After some diag tests it was obvious someone hacked the wiring up attempting to fix a previous failed OE T-H ignition. I was happy to see that bike leave! I thought T-H told me when I ordered the new one they were not making them anymore and was lucky they had one remaining in stock?  :nixweiss:  It was a simple fix after buying the new module, software and cable to communicate with it.

Touring T-H facility early last year was impressive how "in house" everything was and how many things they have been involved with including the design and testing of some of the Indian engines, the dyno they built in house to test the engines and tons of forward controls, ignitions, speedo's and tach's that were used for the latest chopper craze. They will be at the Expo this year. It will be interesting to see if they bring anything new to the table with the ThunderMax since that seems to be their bread and butter now.
