I CANT STAND THE RADIO NIGHTLIGHTS
« on: December 30, 2006, 09:18:42 PM »

Is it just me, or is there a way to increase the brightness so I can what the heck the panel on the HK says at night.  Works fine in daytime, sunrise, dusk etc, but when the sun goes away, I can't see puttin on my reading glasses and stickin my nose up close while riding along.  It becomes a distraction and guesswork to remain safe while doing this.

So, has anyone found a cure for this will alternative lighting, or supplemental lighting, or maybe a mount for a flashight I think, would be better than what I am lookin at.

Please don't tell me that there is a brighness knob. I have played incessantley with the display contraast however, to no avail.

I can barely (or even not quite barely) read the thing at night too.  Thumbing through favorite channels it's never really been an issue though.  And selecting between modes is easy enough as you're able to tell both by what happens and "where" the selection is lighted (even if you can't tell what it says).

Same here  I guess LED would be better than the LCD for those who used to much LSD or are just old enough to own such a ride. Maybe Bi-focal face shields?   hmmm   [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

YEH,

Lean over and squint, and then put on my glasses...

To bad, with all of the modern upscale 3D colors and effects with modern radios, I gotta look at a night lighting scenario on this radio that reminds me of a 1968 C-150.

I never look at mine unless I'm not moving.  It looks fine then..........but I do have to lean forward a bit.

Don't laugh but I did have to get bifocal lenses in my Panoptix MC glasses.

I got Lasik a few years ago (I see 20/15) so I see distance great but I can't read the damned gauges especially at night.

The lenses change tint from dark grey to clear so I can also wear them at night.  I can read the gauges and radio perfectly now.

I... um.... well..... I don't wear my prescription bifocal when I'm riding.  The only thing I can't read is the frakking radio at night.  To hell with it  [smiley=drink.gif].

I just put a friend of mine into a set of prescription grade stick on bifocals.  They're designed to be put on any lenses and used.  This may help, but they work like a traditional Bf- lined type- and not the progressive- no line type.  They are trimable to fit any specs/goggles.

Out in Cripple Creek one evening you told me my eyes woudn't stay put anyway.  Just got glasses the first time like 18 or 20 months ago.  Went from nothing to bifocals.  And sure enough, I am beginning to tell that I likely need to get them adjusted again soon.

If the target keeps moving around that quickly for a few years I'll never do anything terribly expensive with glasses.  I'm only just now getting in the habit of wearing them most of the time anyway.  So I'm all about easy and inexpensive solutions.
