Big deal.  How many miles can you ride or drive in South Dakota before you see another human being?  We already have an 80 mph average speed in and around Chicago, where traffic density is much much heavier.  The signs say 55, the actual is 80, and there seems to not be a real limit.  I think the troopers are afraid to venture out on the interstates, since sighting one is about as common as a victory by the Cubs in a world series.

I have not come across any 80 speed limit signs thus far in my limited travels. I guess I will get to see what it's like going 80 mph legally on my way to Sturgis this year.

What I've found riding in some of the states that have 80 mph speed limits on the interstate is the police take 80 mph much more literal than they did 70 mph.  Not much leeway allowed - which usually means the radar detector earns it's keep.  Honestly though, 75 to 80 is usually my limit when traveling anyway.  Gas mileage plummets at anything faster...

Nice, now instead of running 76 on I-90 across SD on our bikes on the way to Sturgis this year, the bike will be running about 83.  Road glides love to eat the miles at those speeds.

We were in Milwaukee yesterday and came home through Chicago on 94 running 80. Probably 80% of the other vehicles were passing us.
It was crazy.

Tbat is correct. There will be very little leeway like on the 70 and below. The only leeway you get is the +,- % of error on calibration.
