Starter Direct Start Push Button
« on: April 21, 2015, 12:41:09 AM »

Has anyone used these Push button unit to bypass the Solenoid
Relay and push button?  I ordered the 550003 then saw it was for a different year. It was confusing that different sites have same part numbers with different pictures and descriptions.
I have a 2000 FXR4 CVO and now I am not sure what one to get.
Thanks Guys

I run one on my 13. I had it from the chopper days as a back up to the one on my chopper. It bolted right on with no issues and works well.

WOW! That one had a big button on it. Made easy to push I quess. Looks good on there. I like the idea of a back up. I replaced my contacts in the solenoid with a kit but some times it just clicks. I replaced battery and made sure cables were clean and tight. Relay next. Button on handlebars?

I run these on every bike. A great backup for under $40. It has gotten me home more than once over the years. However, the button in your photos is HUGE!! :apple:

I run one of my SEUC, but have not installed one on my FXR4...  But now that you've mentioned it, I think I will.   :2vrolijk_21:

I replaced the starter relay. Cleaned the solenoid and installed the part on the solenoid. I went to test it and the plunger got stuck on the contacts. Shut motor off and it kept on turning.  Had to remove the solenoid cover and pull the plunger before it killed the battery.
I guess I pushed it in too slowly and not making good contact causing it to arc and stick. I had a new battery. Guess I gotta hit it hard and fast like the solenoid does. I will try a battery quick disconnect on the ground lead. If it sticks again I can remove the ground connection guickly so it won't kill the battery before getting it disconnected.
