Miles have gone down a bit over the years.  Most of the '90s I was averaging 20K a year with fun/work combined.

These day, I don't average quite as much but still work/fun and according to the odometer, I just turned over 31K on Ginger and just passed owning her 3 years....that comes to just over 10K/year.  Not bad but wouldn't mind getting that average back up a bit.

I ride mine to work and we take at least two good trips a year (1k+).  I ride to work because I want to ride as much as possible. The whole trip is not all traffic (Atlanta) and when I am just riding it is great therapy so that when I get home I am felling much more recharged!  We will usually take a few "get away from it" rides on weekends.  We average a little over 10K a year.  When we went to Daytona this year it was one of best riding trips ever! My better half really enjoyed the trip, the ride and the weather!  It was great and enables more trips!  :)  We are talking about Sturgis next year! That will be an adventure!

It is quite the experience. I've gone three times and it is one of my favorite places to ride. The Black Hills that is, the rest of SD is a big

The rally is an experience in and of itself which is different from the riding experience. Custer Park, Needles Hwy, Hot Springs, Devils Tower and of course Mt. Rushmore are all unbelievable. The people watching is like no other place but it can get a little overwhelming.

If you go, you may want to consider the week before or the week after and just have a few overlapping days. Get to have the experience with a little less crowds.

In any case, it will be an experience of a lifetime!

Ride mine to work every chance I can.  Neighbors hate me at 5 in the morning when I fire up the Ultra!  Probably 5% work/errands and average 10k a year for the last 25 years!

I ride for recreation, work, errands, rally's, whatever. I figure after spending the ridiculous money on a CVO I'm going to get my money's worth.

Use it for work when possible but more for pleasure. Average 16-20k yearly. More would always be better.

My wife and I ride for recreation only. I never enjoyed using my bike as a commuter vehicle...  We average 20-25k a year, the most was 35k miles.

Years ago, I used to ride everywhere, all the time, nearly year around.
Now, I ride to work a couple times a week in good weather.

Miles...I don't know. Got the SERK in mid-August.  Have about 2,500 mi on it now.

I agree, we have been several times, we do the first half or last half the rally, then other rides.  Last year we rode CO for a week then went up for the to Sturgis rally until Wednesday then went home.  This year we will get there Wednesday and Sunday we will head farther west to Glacier in MT.

The rides you named around Sturgis never get old, we have done them 6 times now.

They don't do they? I know guys who have been there a dozen times or more and the riding there is some of the best in the country. Just beautiful and interesting. Where else can you ride your HOG amongst a herd of bison.

Pretty cool but don't piss them off! They don't like load pipes and my friend got chased by a huge bull once because he rode too close to a calf. Would not have gone well for my friend or his RK if the bison caught him. LOL
