I've never even heard of anything like that... Sure would hate to have 'killed by a gaggle of mayflies' inscribed on my tombstone.  :nixweiss:

This happened on a bridge near my home a few years ago. It was like a sheet of ice. The fire department went down a few nights in a row and washed the bridge down after the first accident to prevent any others.

They're all over the Dept. of Ed building in Downtown Harrisburg this morning.  Not inches thick like in Wrightsville, but stuck all over the windows and walls.  Probably wouldn't be a lot of fun to be walking around down here tonight under the lights.  I'm an hour east of the bridge and it's been a normal Mayfly season there.

I saw that happen about 20+ years ago. The town went out with shovels and heavy equipment to pick them up and then clean the area up.  This was on a bridge that was well lit so the show was better seen from inside.

A friend of mine was traveling south on I95. He saw what he described as a  cloud of smoke just above the roadway ahead of him. Just as he got to it he realized that the "smoke" was a large swarm of BEE'S that he motored through at 80+MPH. Ducked down behind the windshield of his bagger and hung on. Made it through without getting stung but had hundreds of smashed bee's all over his bike.
