Air shock fitment
« on: June 29, 2015, 08:33:25 AM »

I need some info on air  shock fitment.

Will air  shocks off a 2011 CVO Ultra fit a 2014 Limited. I know the CVO shocks are 13". I don't know anything about the 2014 Limited!

Thanks, Dan

The 2014 Limited still uses the full size (not lowered) air shock.  It doesn't carry the same part number as the ones on a 2011 Ultra, but you could install either one on either bike if you wanted to.  I guess I'd like to know why you would want to install shocks off an older bike on a newer bike. :confused5:  What benefit could that possibly bring?

I'm not looking to put older 2011 shocks on a 2014. Just trying to help someone that needed to replace 1 ASAP, as he is leaving on a trip tomorrow. It was posted on FB. Yes I did find out through the J&P catalog that it would fit. After inquiring as why he need 1 he replied to me & I guess I've not heard everything. My understanding is that he installed a disc lock on the rear & you know the rest of the story! I guess it wasn't pretty & he did manage to keep the bike upright.  So he destroyed the shock! I'll bet he'll figure out another way to secure it from on!

I have never used a disc lock! Probably a good reason that I don't! :nixweiss:

That's probably why a lot of the higher dollar ones come with a coiled cord in bright orange that goes up to the throttle to remind you that you have a disc lock in place.  Kind of like pitot tube socks with flags on them to remind the pilot to remove them on his walk around before he takes off.
