A Question on interest Pictures added
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:20:03 AM »

I have owned a 2000 Screaming Eagle Road Glide in triple red since new. I had purchased a full set of painted parts Fairing, Tank, side covers, and saddlebags and have never installed them. I know this isn't the classifieds and I am NOT offering these up for sale at this time. My bike has 100,000 miles but the paint isn't in bad shape. Im just wondering if anyone thinks there would be an interest or should I just install them? What would my used parts be worth. I paid almost $4000 for all the parts about 2008. They are no longer available?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

My opinion would be to keep them unused (since the orig on bike is still good) and sell the set, unless you keep the bike forever. The original new set of tins must have a good value to them, even with the very small market.

The hard part of selling them is finding the right buyer, to him they would be worth a fortune.

I agree with Keats.  Since the parts currently on your bike are still good, I would just leave them on the bike and either continue to store those spares, or make them available to someone trying to restore a 2000 model.  Those bikes are still very popular, and those parts should be worth more than you paid for them to the right person.  If you think you want to sell them, start out on this site where you know you will have folks who know something about CVO's seeing the post.

I agre with everyone. Leave the ones on the bike it came with and either sell or keep the others in pristine shape.

I just dug everything out and looked at everything. I forgot I also have the Tach and Speedo parts. I guess I'll take some pictures this weekend and share. Everything is stored in the original boxes and packaging. I'm torn as I've had these since 2008 and the bike since new. The only parts I don't have are the fenders and lowers as they were single color.

Are you planning on keeping the bike and continuing to ride it?  If so I'd hang on the parts.  After all, it doesn't cost you any more than you've already spent to just let them be as they are.  Sure as hell you'll get rid of something and three days later you'll need it.

I mentioned I would take some pictures. Here they are....
This is the box the tank came in

Another of the box with part number

Tank

Another of the tank

Here is a small spot on the tank the factory didn't paint. It will be covered by the console. I would definitely put some clear on it if I were to use it.

I've got spares; but an incomplete set.  Never bothered scoring all the mono-colored parts.  Pretty parts.

Have to admit I'd be tempted with a complete set just being within arm's reach though.  Tempted to score a frame and get it powder coated, build a hot little motor and make a second very sweet bike out of that collection.
