Thanks for the suggestion I'm leaning toward True Duels and perhaps Rineharts. The convertor has to go......

If you go True Duels and Rineharts....I would avoid the Rinehart headpipe. I believe that the outlet on their headpipe is a larger diameter than other headpipes and will only work with the Rinehart muffers designed for that headpipe. That being said I  run the Rinehart slip ons on a V&H power duel and have been very happy with it.

We have a 15FLTRUSE with V&H Power Duals, Monster Rounds and the Fuelpack FP3. We are happy with this setup for the 2500 miles we've put on it so far. The sound level is right where the wife and I like it. We had a Power Dual head pipe with Monster Ovals on our 10FLHTCU 103 Stage 2, so we knew we liked the sound before we put V&H on the Shark. We put 41,000 on that set up. It sounds as a Harley should and you can hear the sound system easily. For power you can probably do a little better with a good custom dyno tune if you have the time and a shop near by. I don't have that luxury here in rural western Colorado.  I've read both positive and negative comments concerning the FP3 and can only comment on my experience with the FP3 this summer. The download and iPhone app worked well with no issues. I've only ran the V&H program and have not used the auto tune. The driveability feels very good and has no flat spots or warm up issues. It runs good at +12,000 feet elevations here in Colorado. We took a trip to LaJolla, California in June and it ran very well with no issues at sea level. I haven't felt the need to use auto tune! Happy with the FP3 so far!

'if you get Power Duals, make sure you purchase the V&H foot board extension kit for CVOs" would you happen to have the part number for this I could not get anything to come when searching there site?

2Soaper-The V&H Power Duals I purchased for the Shark had the small shim plate for the foot board in the box. The one I purchased back in 2010 didn't, but it wasn't needed on the Ultra. I did have to buy a longer allen head capscrew for the front footboard bolt on the 15RG. This was in the V&H instructions. It was odd that everything else but the one bolt was included in the V&H box.

I chose Power Duals and Monster Rounds.  V&H touts the Monster Rounds as the best choice for quieter ride so you can still tour all day and not go deaf, plus the bike still sounds like a Harley.  We've been very happy with our setup and we don't have to yell anymore to each other.  Plus now the radio only needs to be at half volume or a little more to hear it well!

See this link I posted on my setup:

I'm currently running a Fuelmoto 2-1-2 stainless steel ceramic coated head pipe, that came off my old Ultra Limited, with Fullsac 1.75" muffler cores in the original CVO mufflers.  Running a FP3 tuner running the download tune for a V&H power dual and monster round muffler.  Tune feels very close to right with only a slight hint of rich fuel smell during warmup.  I'm sure I could do better with a full capability tuner and a dyno tune but this works pretty well for what I spent.  I rarely run out of the closed loop range anyway so ECM and O2 sensors keep everything close.  I would like to sometime have a dyno pull just to verify numbers and where the O2's are running.

I should also add the sound is only slightly louder than stock but much deeper.

Harry - I'm curious, did you investigate the V&H Monster Rounds compared to the Monster Ovals to learn which is louder? I went with the Ovals because at cruising speeds they're supposed to quiet down as well.

Kirk,
I watched as many videos as I could find, and had good speakers hooked up to the Mac to try to get a feel for the sound output.  I know, I know, it isn't the same as being there in person, but you take what you can get sometimes.  And where we live, the odds of finding bikes with those pipes are staggeringly low!!!   :D

I also did a lot of forum reading and perused other websites that talked about them.  I had the older ovals on my '07 EG and we loved them, but they were loud enough to make conversation tough.  There are also comparison reports or reviews out there if you'll look hard enough, all of which I know you know already.

Finally I called V&H and talked with them.  They aren't the best at customer service, but the sales guy backed up what the research had been telling me.

Ultimately it was all of the above plus V&H's own literature that convinced me.  Here's a quote from their website:

Like it’s cousin the Monster Oval, the new Monster Round produces that deep and mellow rumble that’s winning the hearts and minds of touring riders who put in the long distance miles. Perfect for enjoying your stereo on the highway, the Monster Round features blue proof technology and a CNC machined billet end-cap for an impeccable appearance.

This is my 4th set of V&H pipes and I tried to feel as right about the decision as I could before I pulled the trigger.  The Rounds don't come cheap, but in the end, I made the right decision.  We can talk without yelling and the stereo is too loud at 2/3 volume.

The extension kit is Vance & Hines #16937. Easy to install and I have not had any issues yet with clearance on sharp right turns. Pipe cover does not rub against the foot board anymore!

By the way I use the FP3 as well with Power Duals and Monster Rounds and everything runs great. Did not even have to autotune. Just downloaded the map and flashed to bike.

The Power Duels came with a couple 1/4 shims that I used on the footboard, cleared with a 1/32 to spare. I also don't believe I'll be using the autotune feature I'm very happy with how the bike is running.
