Race Tech G2-R 25mm Cartridge Kits

Has anyone used the G2-R 25mm Cartridge Kits ? Ohlins are too expensive and need rebuilds every few thousand miles. The Progressive I am not sure about.

Will they fit a 2008 CVO Ultra? How much do they cost?

Highly recommended you check out the Legend AXEO front suspension kit. I installed and really like them. A little more expensive than the Progressive monotubes but less than Ohlins. Adjustable to your weight or riding style. American made with a Lifetime warranty. I am not putting any other brand down, just totally happy with the AXEO performance. You will find many positive reviews.

Scott, For the AXEO's, what pre-load did you set? What's your weight and riding style?

I weigh 225-230 lbs, my wife is 130 lbs. I went with a setting for 400lbs. Feels right for me. Considering my age (64) I no longer try to drag my floor boards as I did 25 years ago. I was looking for a smoother and firmer ride, I hated how the stock front end dived during braking and when I was forced to park down hill, the front end would dive down while I tried to maneuverer, especially two up and loaded with gear. The new AXEO front end corrected the issues. You can really tell the difference at higher speeds. I generally like to cruise between 70 and 75 on the freeway, faster when needed. Love the feeling of control or composure through sweepers, it just feels good. Also enjoy riding two lanes, many of them are a bit rough, this system keeps the bike composed and smoother. Firm and smooth at the same time.

Here is a YouTube video that explains the AXEO suspension. Hope this all helps

By the way, Iron Aces speed shop has the Legend AXEO kit for $660.96

Thanks.  I checked into these. They are not for Dyna front ends. I ended up sending my forks to Howard's Motorcyclemetal for the
30mm Ohlins.

I just installed the from Ohlins and not sure why you think they need to be rebuilt. I think the only reason you would have to do that would be if you used them for racing applications according to Howard.

The Ohlin shocks call for maintenance between 12,000 and 15,000 miles. It's on the Ohlin web site. I don't know if the Ohlin front end kit calls for maintenance.

Not knocking Ohlin or any brand, just letting fellow riders know about Legend suspension. My experience has been great.

I have not ridden a bike with Ohlins to compare. Don't think it's really fair for anyone to claim one brand is the best over another. Legend suspension is made differently than other brands, every brand has a specific target they are made for. It's good to have quality choices.

I have had the rear Ohlins (Howard's #6's) for 40000 miles and just had them rebuilt when I did the new motor a few months ago. Didn't feel ant difference in the ride but figured it was time since my bike was going to be down for the motor anyway. Not trying to "pimp" Ohlins's, just love them on my bike. Besides stock, its the only experience I have so not sure another brand wouldn't be just as good.

This is where I found Ohlin's recommendation to service there shocks every 12,000 to 15,000 miles.

I am certainly not trying to put Ohlin's down for there maintenance or anything else for that matter. Based on feedback I'm sure they make great suspension. Simply want riders to know about the Legend option, based on my positive experience. IMHO, I have concluded that Ohlin, Legend, progressive as well as other brands that I simply don't know about make very good suspension. All designed to improve upon the poor stock suspension on Harleys. The key is that they all do it differently and thus deliver a similar or different ride but not the same. Not exactly the same. Again, IMHO, I think the design features should be illustrated. Not to put anyone's choice down but to help those doing research to understand before they buy. There as so many factors to consider, budget, how you ride, rider and passenger weight, rider size, how you like to ride, maintenance, even differences in installation. Warranty and Origin of manufacture is important to some.  I do not believe there is a BEST, more like a best choice for a informed rider. Given all the factors listed above Ohlin might be the best choice for some, Legend for others and Progressive for yet another. One thing I have learned about suspension is that it takes a little research to find what's best for you. That is all that matters.
