2001 SERG Exhaust & tuner question...
« on: August 27, 2015, 08:10:54 PM »

So... my 2001 SERG runs great and is stock except for gutted out stock muffles & Big City Thunder baffles in the end of the header pipe. The stock mufflers still have the shark fin end caps (love the way they look).
My questions are:
1. Can I add "true dual" header pipes to the bike without getting a tuner?
2. Will "true duals" affect performance & sound?

I understand that the 2000 & 2001 SERG's came with a Stage 1 download and a tuner for "true Duals" is not necessary and that true duals will get some of the heat away from my right leg.
Is that accurate?

Thanks

I wouldn't expect more performance with the true duals, but I think you can safely expect the heat to be reduced from your right leg.

If you install true duals on that bike the mapping will not support them well. On that vintage, with the bike being a throttle position/RPM (Alpha N) map, the PowerCommander would be your best tuning device.

The bike came with a 270CG276 or 270CG278 map (if memory serves me correct) which is a stage 2 (1550/flat tops/red injectors).  They were the same maps.

Thanks Ed, Since I like the way it runs now I'll just leave it alone.
