New 15 Limited, mods begun
« on: August 21, 2015, 08:18:21 AM »

Bought the new CVO limited, started my mods to get good power without any machining. The dealer put a V&H duals on the bike before I bought it, had the SE loud muffler. was too loud for me so had them swap out the D&D Boss slipons from my old bike, still loud but not as bad. I changed filter to K&N just because that what I always do. The bike had a download for the pipes and ran like crap, stalled in intersection on me on way home from dealer.

Got to thinking I dont like the V&H dual so I ordered the S&S power tune header and scheduled a dyno  with Ed. I Installed the exhaust and went up to Dallas for a tune, the bike started at dyno at 84 and 103 base, thought this was anemic for a 110 motor but it turns out its in line with others. Finished up the tune at  90 and 113, bike runs great but the tq starts too late in the rpm range for me. Discussed the results with Ed and concluded that my short experiment with a dual pipe is the major cause, I am going back to the 2-1 set up, Dragula this time, also determined the stock 110 AC is not the best and neither is the cam. I ordered the Mach 2 AC and a 24d cam with woods lifters. My aim is to get over 100 HP and close e to 120 TQ at the 2500 RPM range, I'll be happy with that. Would post the dyno but dont know how. If you read this Ed please feel free to post dyno sheet.

Your gonna be short of the number your targeting without a little more compression.

You'll get 100hp/110tq with that cam and a good pipe.  :2vrolijk_21:

We have used the S&S pwr tuned head pipe  many times over and it ALWAYS make great tq and early on.. never a issue.

The mufflers you have should have a 1 3/4 core nothing there that should prevent you from  making great low end power as well..

Would like to see the sheet..

so the new parts cam stock comp ratio and 120Tq by 2500???  That's a very tall order I will say it will make 110 ish at that point but not 120 and it may not even peak at 120 with stock comp ratio , you might try using the 2.0 baffle to drive the tq up faster and make more peak vs the 2.5 baffle but until you test both back to back hard to say which will be the best.. It will be loud for sure only draw back on that pipe.

The real issue is the compression of the motor being at 9.2:1. 120TQ by 2500rpm will probably not be possible, it may get to 110 or so by 2500rpm and close to 120TQ by 3500 or so. The nice thing about this cam is it hits pretty quick but does not fall off or below 110TQ until 4750rpm-5000rpm. No it does not hit quite as hard as the 255cam but by 2500rpm the 24D will be equivalent and pass the 255cam. The nice broad TQ curve is what it is all about. It will be fun to see on the dyno.
