I finally got the carbon cleaned off the pistons by soaking them in Hoppe's gun cleaner. But after measuring them they're slightly oval by .005. So I'm just going to send them out to AMS in Ft. Worth. This is on my Heritage so it won't leave me without a bike. Thanks for the suggestions....

We see quite a few with a generous taper in them as well, but with 110,000 on the clock, can't really say a lot of bad.

I think this would be a good time to opt for *new* pistons, whether it needs them or not...

+1 for AMS.  Did my Road King (88" to 95") ten years ago and still running strong!

Even with 110,00 miles, to just arbirtrarily bore, (unless of couse the want exceeds the need) w/o setting up a dial bore guage to measure/inspect the bores, after you put a set of 3-4" Starrett or Mitutoyo micrometers accross the skirts, is not how we'd go about it here.
Measure first, then make the determination.
We have about 6-8, 1450cc bikes out there with about 12-15 years of service on them.........1450cc, 88" XL's!!
Those will eat a bone-stock 120R for breakfast. :D :D :D
