I was under the impression that the Gaterman lifters were just a reworked Delphi lifter. In other words, the same lifter body (and roller) Harley uses. If that's the case, then it's not surprising to me that the roller bearings would fail.

No matter what the name on the box is, most lifters are made by a very small group of companies. It's no different than many other parts these days, made by one company and sold under a dozen brand names. I think some of us brought that up a long time back when people started making claims about various lifters being so much better than the Delphi stuff Harley uses. One of the Gaterman offerings is definitely the same, not sure about the other part number they offer. They may have tweaked the internal parts to fix the leakdown issues, but if they still use the original lifter body and roller, those other changes aren't going to fix the roller failure issues.
