Loading Maps
« on: September 05, 2015, 04:32:00 AM »

Hi all,

Did a quick search on the forum didn't find anything so sorry if this has been addressed in the past.

I am picking my US Spec 2015 CVO SG here in Germany in a couple of weeks, and they are telling me that it will have the US maps installed into the Navi, great for when I get home, but not much use to me here in Germany for the next 2-3 Years.

Was wondering if any of you have added new country maps to your Navi and how painful it was to do so?

Can I keep the US maps and just add the Europe maps or is it going to be a complete re-install and Ill have to do it again when I get back to the US.

Any idea how much storage space these new Gen II Boom Box has?

Cannot answer to your questions, but would like to draw your attention to the rather absurd situation with Harley's European maps:

There hasn't been an update for more than 2 years. The rest of the world including f'n Africa have maps from last year but we here in Europe are cruising with maps from Q2/2013.

So when you do load those old maps, you better prepare yourself for some surprises on your road trips.

Steve when you get this figured out please get your self a decent camera to keep around your neck as you explore over there and post up your pics in our ride report board.  We don't get enough photo ride reports from Europe.

Tervonenllc, Thanks for the response. I was told about that site from the company that imports/sells the bikes to US personnel, and I saw how old the maps where. I was REALLY REALLY hoping that was because I was not logged-in or was missing some sort of code that comes with the bike.  Thing that really has me a bit irked is that importer/seller are telling me the HD dealers wont touch the Navi :( which I think is kinda BS if they wont/can't load the maps.  I personally haven't talked to the local dealer yet about this, will have to stop by and have a talk with them, see what the real deal is.  As with everything there are 3 sides; Her side, his side and somewhere in the middle hides the truth.

JCZ,  lol I'll see what I can do!! My neighbor across the street from me has 375K KM touring time and grew up in this town.  We go out every other weekend or so and he shows me these insanely twisty and beautiful routes.  I think I have lost about an 1/8 in off my Floorboards trying to keep up with him.    http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/Smileys/CVO/oops.gif

Did three years in Bitburg with the Army. One two Harleys in unit and both were old police bikes from the states. Late 80's. Was there when wall came down. Google earth it now and none of its occupied anymore. Like to go visit old site again. We were off airbase  in remote areas with Hawk missiles.

I can say even up to date maps are wrong here in US. Good luck. Think they are wrapped in updates to radio.
