Boom Radio Question - Switches to IPOD every start up
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:01:54 AM »

Does anyone have any info on how to keep the Boom audio on whatever it was set to at shutdown?  I've noticed that mine seems to default to the ipod at start up, it takes it a little bit, but after it sees the ipod is connected it starts playing it instead.

I've attempted to read the book and search but cant find any info on this..

Thanks

Check your system to see if you have the latest software update installed.  This is just one of a large number of "bugs" Harley has had with the new infotainment systems since they were introduced a couple years ago.  Try reading through this thread, or some of the earlier ones:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=102143.0

Version 1.19.1 is the most recent update.

Now that's funny mine goes to either fm or Sirius on startup and I would be thrilled if it went back to the iPod where it was shutdown on.

Seems mine always jumps to weather band, (no, not a bad weather alert) just WB with static because it doesn't even land on a channel. I toggle back to Ipod, or XM and I am good again.

Follow up - I did the update to 1.19.1 and have rode several times since, seems to be better.  Did have another issue where it didn't see my ipod at all a couple times, but for the most part it starts on FM now.

Does anyone have any info on how to keep the Boom audio on whatever it was set to at shutdown?  I've noticed that mine seems to default to the ipod at start up, it takes it a little bit, but after it sees the ipod is connected it starts playing it instead.

I have same problem. Mine starts on WB with static. I like to blue tooth from my phone. Either Pandora or my Google music. Always have to go back to home screen select media. Then select my phone. Pain in the ass. Help

Yeah, now mine's on the weather band kick also.  Very annoying.
As far as not seeing the iPod, mine takes a few seconds after boot to see my SD card with all my MP3's on it, but then I have 20gb of songs for it to read.  The faster the card, the faster it will boot.
I'm assuming the same applies for an iPod.  The more songs you have on it, the longer I think it will take to boot fresh each time.  I had an '11 RGU and sometimes the iPod took forever, even though it was only an 8gb version.  Then sometimes, I had to either unplug and plug it back in, or I had to boot the older system on the '11 again to get it to see the iPod.
Frustrating.  And by the way, I have the latest update on the Boom!Box.

Mine is always the same place on start-up that it was on shutdown. Has never been different.

The radio on my 15 CVOSG  defaults  back to the FM at each start up no mater what I had on at time of turning the bike off. It takes several minutes sometimes for it to spool up and recognize anything on the blue tooth mode. Cell phone or I-pod takes time to load for some reason. I love some of the updates that were done. It helped with all of the cutting out at high volume. I have had two done since Sept of 14.  The only down fall I have is that they turned the amp way down on power to keep everyone from complaining and service issues for them. Yes the radio is a high quality unit but at high speeds and pipes I still find myself asking for more. It was cut way back with the updates loaded in for sure.

I think I asked this question in a similar thread some time back, but since no one answered I'll try again.  Is there a method to reset the unit to the factory settings?  In other words, to undo any and all "customization" the rider has done to user settings.  The reason I ask is that many issues have been traced in some of the threads to the settings people have changed.  If yours has the same update level as the next guy, and his starts up every time on whatever input he had operating at the time he shut it down while yours does not, there may be a difference in how the two of you have the user controlled settings adjusted.

Jerry, 14CVOUltra asked this question and there is a post where I told him how to go in the radio settings and default everything back to stock but can't find the post at this moment.
