solftail vrs. dana power loss

how much power is lost in a 110 ci softail vrs a swingarm type  bike :nixweiss:

Softails have swingarms, but the shocks are mounted under the transmission on the frame.

Not sure of the formula. But B engines do have more moving parts.

The "B" engines used in Softails have internal balance shafts driven by a chain, which creates a parasitic loss.  Harley also sets them up with a lower rev limit (of course you can defeat that with a tuning system) to help keep the internal parts on the inside.  So no doubt they produce less power in stock form than the "A" engines used in Dyna's and Touring models.  I can't say how much difference, but I imagine one of the folks who tunes bikes can give you a ballpark estimate.  If you're comparing to a Touring model, you also have to figure in the lighter weight for the Softy, which requires less power to get moving and keep moving.  It's all about power to weight ratio, not just max power on the drum.  Some specs on running weight for 2016 CVO's:
 
Pro Street      730 lbs.
SESG             867 lbs.
SELTD            940 lbs
