CVO values
« on: January 14, 2016, 09:57:57 AM »

so I'm approaching the one year anniversary of the purchase of my 13 RK and thought I would just
take a look around to see if others where out there for sale

and I'm taking into consideration that it's winter and bike sales suck anyway
but opened up Ebay motors and at a HD dealer is a bike just like mine, less the mods with 1900 miles on it for $22
of course it's gone already but it was a little discouraging to see that the value of the bike has dropped
allot or in my opinion for what I paid for mine a year ago with a few more miles on it at the time

oh well drive and enjoy

The current motorcycle market is softer than it has been over the last decade.  Based on current demographics and the economy, that's going to be the norm.

Yes that sucks! As we know the mods don't add much value for resale and like the CVO we are paying to have what we want now and it is not an investment. So as you said ride and enjoy!

I looked up the nada value on my 2011 CVO street glide,  It has only lost around $4000 in 5 1/2 years.  I'm happy with that.

Ain't that the truth... matter fact NADA could end up hurting you...  insurance and property tax (if you have that were you live) could be increased due to the value NADA is quoting (if they were to use those values).

When we bought our 2012 CVO Street Glide, one statement the sales manager told us was the CVO will retain their value and when they bought it back do to all problems and multiple warranties that had to be done, I had to remind him of that because they wanted to de-value it by thousands, even thou it was only 5 months old and over 6 ,000 miles on it.
But back to your bike, or any bike value, it think the seller has an idea of value, and than you need to find a buyer that feels the same, trade in value is always less than selling it privately

Last week a 2013 CVO Ultra with a little over 5,000 miles sold on eBay in Huntsville Alabama. It  brought $21,400.  Not a whole lot for a super clean one owner bike. Current market is very weak and if your anywhere in cold weather it's worse.

Good luck if you decide to sell. NADA is too high for current conditions.

I agree with Chains.  IMO, the NADA has been too high for the last 35 years, as has the Commercial Blue Book.  It's only a guide.  Good case for Insurance loss, borrowing money, or stating values for a Financial Statement.  As for making money, or recouping money on a Harley, I haven't done that in 25 years.  I've never worried over the money I sold a Harley for, versus the money I had invested.  The pleasure I've experienced ridin' my Harleys is priceless.  Wanna make money?  Buy guns.  There endeth the lesson.  8) Later--HUBBARD

The bike is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, No book can help with that. Good market brings good money bad market brings no so good money. What you think it worth and what someone would pay may vary big time.

let's be honest guys. If we were buying CVO's for an investment, all of us would be broke.  Like with most adult toys that have motors, its about good times and memories with the family and friends. With that said, they all are priceless.

I think my Bikes, especially my CVO's are great investments.  I put 24~26K a year on my bikes.  Puts a smile on my face for all that time.  I ride with my wife on her bike lots, and also with great friends.  I would not have seen all I have seen if it was not for these bike, nor the great friends I have.  ND is the only state besides Alaska I had not rode west of the Mississippi River, and five states east I have not rode.

So when I trade it two years later I do not feel bad.  I'm sure I got my enjoyment out of it, and my stress release and quality time with my wife and friends
