Aiming Aux Driving Lights
« on: December 02, 2015, 01:07:43 AM »

Stupid question here. I normally adjust my headlight for good good light on low beam then good light on high beam. Then figure somewhere in the middle. Not scientific for sure. Now I have Two sets of Aux Driving LED lights. These I want adjusted properly.
Is it 25 feet from wall with the center spot same height but aimed slightly not to blind the oncoming traffic?  Pointers? Thanks

I would suggest aiming them in accordance with the instructions for aiming the auxiliary driving lights provided by Motolight.  Below is a link to their installation/aiming instructions.  They provide a couple of different ways for aiming.  Look at Step #9 near the bottom of Page 6.

25 feet from a vertical wall, measure the height to the center of the spot lights (with the bike sitting level and the rider aboard), then transfer that measurement to the wall and draw a level line.  Adjust each light so the top of the beam touches the line.  This gives you the proper slightly downward aim that won't blind oncoming drivers.  Adjust the side alignment straight ahead of each lamp, or slightly to the right.

Looking at doing this on my RGU which can have difficult lighting with the stock LED's while going around curves.  Had thought best might be slightly to the left and right of main lighting to help with those areas which is sort of what Jerry suggests.  I'll review the motolight recommendations as well.
