2008 110 Oil Leak
« on: March 10, 2016, 02:50:29 PM »

Well it looks like my rear cylinder is starting to leak oil.... which really sucks... the bike had the recall completed on it at 3k and now has 16k on it..... I am at a loss how a motor can develop leaks if properly cared for so early in its life, but that is not why I am here.

It looks like it might be limited to the top rear of the cylinder head.  The amount of oil leaked is negligible.  In fact none has ever made it to the ground.  A drop or two on the tranny cover is all.  I've attached pics.

Questions: 1) can I just ride this thing until it gets worse and then I dump some money into upgrades or will i cause more unnecessary damage or will safety be an issue.

2) what are typical costs attached, if I am lucky and it is only the gasket, to having it replaced.  it would be good to know as the local MoCo dealer has been known to be expensive.... and I would like to keep them honest....

thanks in advance and cheers,

Try to tighten the rocker box covers and see if that will help. Before you do check to see if the gasket has pushed out.

I would follow that advice for starters.

Seems like there were quite a few gasket revisions back then. Hope you get it solved. I gave up after three times with my 07. Hasn't leaked a drop since it's been in a box. :huepfenjump3:
