SPO prices just went up!

I called M&M Cycles in Sandusky to order the SPOs, and they told me that last week S&S raised the prices. So instead of $399, they are now $459 at M&M. I think Mark said the MSRP is now close to $600.

Ouch!

Yes Ironhorse,
It does pay to shop around. When I got my SPOs  on the 10th the local dealer first pulled the Drag Specialties book out since it was brand new and that price was $600. I told the dealer to check other suppliers and they found them at Custom Chrome or Chrome Specialties (I can't remember which) for $500. Then since it was a HOG day they gave me the 15% discount even though it wasn't a Harley part. So I guess I paid $425.

Right no I am running FullSacs, and they are just a tad too loud for me on the freeway.

I have never heard a FullSacs so I can't give you a sound level comparison. From other I have heard I would say they are above stock but lower than Vance&Hines or Rhineharts.
See my thread about first impressions for more info. The SPOs are hard to describe, it is a very low rumble that does draw some looks but doesn't interfere with the radio etc. You will notice the low pitch sound. It does kinda sound like a bigblock car out of the 1960s.
So far I love them. I don't mind the unusual sound or large oval looks.(I think it goes well with a bagger) Most that have seen them like them too. They all say the sound is different compaired to anything they have heard before.

They will work w/the Vance & Hines. I believe the reason they will not work with Rineharts is because of the diameter size of the Rinehart mufflers. Rinehart has made their tru-duals so that only their mufflers will fit on their pipes.

CB, they don't work with RH's TD's because they use a stepped design and the outlet, at the muffler connection, is larger than stock headpipes. The V&H TD's work beacause they are the same size as stock headpipes. Hoist! 8-)

Rinehart does sell a set of headers that will fit standard mufflers.  I have seen them on ebay but I don't know anyone who has tried them.  They are different than the ones most guys here have.

That would be Bub's Cross Dresser duals.  Any slipon will work with them as they are not a step header.  (Bub is the manufacturer of Rinehart duals & Freedom duals for Harleys)  The cross dressers are a very nice quality product that look like the Rinehart design...only not stepped.
