Sorry I just read my last post and realized how negative it is.

II guess  was baffled how at 23,500 miles on a $40,000+ motorcycle you feel lucky that your lifter had failed...

But you are lucky you caught it... "IF" you are out of warranty.

If you were still in warranty then HD is lucky!

Not a lifter failure. The rear cam bearing came apart. I am in the process of the build right now. Can't wait to get it back together. The machining process is now the hold up.

My lifter failed at 22k while on a road trip.  Started out as very ocassional miss and I (and my hometown tech who I phoned about it) thought it was bad gas at first.  But then all heck broke loose and it took out the motor.  Guess I was 'lucky' as it was under H-D's warranty.

I missed that inner cam bearing...I guess because so many of us have had lifter failures I had an expectation bias moment while I was reading. 

You are putting new lifters in I hope??!!!

You have no idea how surprised I was when I pulled the cam cover and saw the rollers laying in there. I was looking for some worn out lifters. Yes I am changing the lifters, oil pump and cam plate. All Fueling. I hope I get to see my lower end and heads soon. I would really like to start putting Ole Jezebel back together.
